The story behind Indira Paganotto

Born in 1992 in the Canary Islands, Indira Paganotto has become one of the most globally recognisable and culturally influential figures in contemporary electronic music. Her rise has not been accidental nor trend-driven — it has been constructed over more than a decade through vision, discipline and a refusal to dilute her identity.

Raised in an eclectic musical environment shaped by her father, a DJ in the 80s, she was exposed from childhood to disco, jazz, acid house and goa. That early immersion built an instinctive understanding of rhythm and psychedelia, later reinforced by a deep fascination with traditional Indian and ethnic music. Those elements would eventually crystallise into what she defined as psy-techno — a high-energy fusion of acid, trance and hypnotic techno aesthetics that she not only pioneered but successfully positioned on a global scale.

Indira began DJing at 16 at Moon Club in Las Palmas, later becoming resident at HEAVEN in Gran Canaria. Her move to Madrid marked a decisive chapter: limited resources, vinyl-only sets, studio obsession and total focus. It was during this period that she connected with Ian Pooley, who released three of her vinyl records on Pooled Music — Underground Love, Time Out Man and Kashmir — marking her official entry into the European underground circuit at a remarkably young age.

Over the following years, releases on Second State, Octopus Recordings and, crucially, KNTXT (founded by Charlotte de Witte) positioned her at the forefront of a new generation reshaping peak-time techno. Her EP Himalaya and its follow-up Lions of God marked a turning point, introducing a harder, more psychedelic and unmistakably personal sound to a global audience.

In 2023, Paganotto launched ARTCORE — a project that rapidly evolved beyond a traditional record label into a fully realised creative universe. ARTCORE became the structural backbone of the psy-techno movement: a defined visual language, curated VA compilations, global showcases and a loyal international community. Within two years, ARTCORE stages were hosted at major festivals including Tomorrowland, Mysteryland and Dreambeach, confirming the brand’s cultural impact beyond standard label structures.

A defining moment came with the full-season ARTCORE residency at Hï Ibiza — one of the most competitive and globally visible platforms in nightlife. Rather than adapting to Ibiza, Paganotto transported the ARTCORE universe intact, establishing a weekly stronghold that connected underground identity with the island’s international spotlight. The residency marked not only personal success, but strategic consolidation: artist, label and movement operating as one ecosystem.

Her global touring trajectory reflects this expansion. Indira has headlined institutions and festivals such as Awakenings, Tomorrowland, EXIT Festival, EDC Las Vegas, Circoloco Ibiza, Fabric London, and a debut performance at Coachella, marking her arrival on one of the most visible stages in global music culture. She also became the first female artist in history to close the main stage at Monegros Festival — a symbolic and structural milestone within the European electronic scene.

Her collaborative spectrum further demonstrates her versatility and reach: from White Horse with Nina Kraviz, to studio work with Joseph Capriati, to a high-profile remix of People Are Good for Depeche Mode, bridging underground techno with one of the most influential electronic bands in modern history. B2B performances with artists such as Armin van Buuren further illustrate her ability to transcend genre boundaries without compromising identity.

The release of her debut album, Arte como amante, marked the formal consolidation of her artistic vision. Moving beyond peak-time functionality, the record revealed emotional depth, narrative structure and long-form composition — confirming her authorship not only as a DJ and producer, but as a fully realised artist.

Beyond music, Paganotto has extended her cultural footprint through global partnerships with brands including MotoGP, Defender and W Hotels, positioning her as a cross-sector creative figure while maintaining credibility within the underground.

What distinguishes Indira Paganotto is not simply momentum, but architecture. She has built a recognisable universe — sonic, visual and communal — where artist, label and movement reinforce one another. In an industry driven by cycles and trends, she represents something rarer: sustained vision.

Her trajectory is not a peak. It is a structure still expanding.
