Shaun Farrugia
The story behind Shaun Farrugia
Shaun Farrugia is the voice behind some of the world’s biggest dance records and one of pop and electronic music’s most in-demand songwriters. With more than 700 million streams across his songwriting catalogue and over 100 million streams as a primary artist, he has already built an impressive international career.
His journey, however, has been anything but conventional. In 2019, the Malta-born artist quit his job, sold everything he owned and moved to London with no industry connections, determined to build a career in music from the ground up. After being invited to meet Sigala during an Instagram Live, Shaun took the opportunity and was soon signed by Polydor.
Since then, Shaun has written and collaborated with artists including Martin Garrix, Bono, The Script, Sigala, Mimi Webb, John Newman, Alesso, Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Audien and Arijit Singh. His distinctive voice has featured on internationally successful records including Martin Garrix and DubVision’s ‘Starlight (Keep Me Afloat)’, ‘If We’ll Ever Be Remembered’ with Martin Garrix and Audien’s ‘High Hopes’. A forthcoming collaboration with Armin van Buuren and HALO was recently premiered by Armin at Tomorrowland.
Shaun’s live career has gathered equally serious momentum. He has performed at Ultra Festival and supported some of the biggest names in music, including Robbie Williams, Sam Smith, Becky Hill, French Montana and Marshmello. Over a landmark summer, he also performed in Tokyo, appeared alongside Afrojack at Isle of MTV and in Mykonos, and supported Lewis Capaldi in front of a huge home crowd at Malta’s SummerDaze Festival.
Now firmly establishing himself as a solo artist, Shaun is connecting with audiences through emotionally honest songwriting, huge pop melodies and deeply personal storytelling. His single ‘Heading Home’ helped take his Spotify audience beyond 600,000 monthly listeners, while ‘Still Falling’ offered an intimate glimpse into his relationship with his fiancée.
His latest single, ‘All For Nothing’, is a powerful song about hope, perseverance and being there for one another when the future feels uncertain. The track is gaining traction at BBC Radio 2, receiving daytime plays as support continues to build, and offers another glimpse of his forthcoming EP, ‘Heading Home’, arriving on 16 October.
From taking a chance on music with no contacts and no guarantees to performing on some of the world’s biggest stages, Shaun has built his career through persistence, self-belief and an undeniable ability to connect through his songs. With further major collaborations, live performances and new music ahead, his momentum shows no sign of slowing down.
